The Glitch Mob: Touching people with music

foto PR

The Glitch Mob play Roxy this month (May 26 to be precise). We were able to interview them - turned out they are a really nice bunch.

What is so great about GLITCH that it made it into the name of your band?

When we first started playing music together, we played a few gigs without a name. Then, we were forced to choose a name to play a small festival on a river in Northern California and a friend of ours said "The Glitch Mob". It rolled off the tongue well. We liked the sound of it so we stuck with it. It's funny because there's really not a whole lot of meaning behind it :)

If we were to hear one or two tracks you have made, what would they be?

Probably Fortune Days and Our Demons. Those sum up our sound very well.

When was the moment that you guys decided to make music?

We started off as a DJ/producer collective, and were touring around for about a year playing shows. A friend of ours, Nalepa, asked us to remix one of his tracks for a remix album. That was the first time we all sat in the studio together and produced music. After that, we did more remix work and touring before we decided to sit down and write Drink The Sea.

Who are your three top bands?

NIN, Daft Punk and Radiohead.

What’s your favourite thing about being musicians?

The best thing about being a musician is getting to touch peoples lives with our work. We work very hard at what we do and are very grateful to be on this journey.

What do you do against the grey?

We have created a custom system called The Blade to perform our music live. It's important to us to get on stage and actually play the music with the the same drama and intensity that it was written with.
