5 reasons why to go to Sydney / Australia for foreigners

I´m lucky because I spent six gorgeous months in Australia. So, I feel that it is the right time to put forward some reasons on why to go there. When you think of it, it is not so much of a detached idea as it takes only one day to get there by air. Well, to be honest, Australia is not a country where you simply decide to go there on a whim. No, there is some planning behind it, but still the correct answer for the question “Why should I go to Australia?” is “Why not?!”

Let´s move on to some “serious” reasons:

1. Geography
When you think about it, Sydney is soooo far that you can fully get away from your family, friends and job. Your headquarters will be completely refreshed and satisfied by new inputs that will make you happy all the time. Nobody will visit, as it is such a long and expensive trip, which means you will have the freedom to start a new page in your life.

2. Sun
The sun in Sydney is exhausting as it is sunny almost all the time. In winter, it is a bit chilly but still sunny. The sun makes you smile and it works as an amazing source of everyday energy for a job in hospitality if you are not the happier one who has some daytime job.

3. City
Sydney is a vibrating city. Some parts radiate with an incredible buzz that has been created by the multicultural atmosphere and modern architecture. It just depends on your soul’s tastes as to which part you will live.

  • Are you a sporty fan? Let´s stay near some beach. You can spend a whole night partying with Brazilians at Bondi beach and the next day take a surfboard and have some fun.
  • Are you crazy about hiking? The Blue Mountains are only 2 hours away from the city centre.
  • Are you a young professional with a desire for stylish living? Surry Hills, with its small cafes, is the best.
  • Is the hipster culture close to your heart? Find yourself in Newtown with street art and second hand bookshops.
  • Are you a rebel? Let´s get naked in Kings Cross.
  • Would you like to know everything? Stay in CBD – the heart of the city.

4. People
You can meet around 50 new people in Sydney every day. This melting pot easy absorbs different people from all over the world. Some of them stay there for a while; others choose to stay forever. Their friendly nature and love for small talks will not allow you to get lost. Furthermore, slowly but surely, you will find your right soul mate. Many people will be in the same situation like you, so you will realize quite early how amazing it is to be with people who understand you.

5. Language
If you are a non-native speaker, you will most likely go to Sydney with expectations to get better in your language abilities. Well, frankly, your English will probably stay the same rubbish as it was, but the difference will be that you will stop thinking about it and start using it. And hurray! You will be able to talk to people with mistakes but they will forgive you for sure.
